These homeowners had a beautiful Santa Fe style home, but the kitchen and living room were closed off from the rest of the living space. They were also very dark. They wanted to open them up and make them a whole lot lighter. The remodel would have to somehow tie in with the rest of the house. You will see that walls were taken down. They were supporting walls, so beams were put in to hold up the structure. White Starmark cabinetry was put in the kitchen and another window were added to the kitchen, and the whole place became a whole lot brighter.

Initially the sandstone wall was a full floor to ceiling wall that separated the dining area from the rest of the house. The kitchen walls were also floor to ceiling. No beams were there. Being these were supporting walls, we needed to still have that support, thus the beams.

The kitchen has become part of the rest of the house. The living room is in view, and so is the entrance and dining room.The ample number of windows in the kitchen allow the homeowners to enjoy their gorgeous mountain views.

Originally these walls were floor to ceiling, and there were not the beams. The dining room was completely closed off from the rest of the house.
