Lauren comes to TraVek as part of Paradise Valley High School's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) CREST Program. PVHS website describes the CREST program on their website as: "The Center for Research in Engineering, Science, and Technology (CREST) is a Career and Technical Education STEM program offered at Paradise Valley High School that provides students with the opportunity to study one of three specialized disciplines:
Students enrolled in the CREST program are PVHS students. CREST is a recognized leader in STEM education with instructors who continuously develop innovative and engaging ways to provide students with authentic learning experiences that enhance the curriculum. Small class sizes, academic support, laboratory experience, collaboration with university and industry professionals, and a rich campus life provide many opportunities for academic and personal growth."
This is the second summer that TraVek has partnered with Paradise Valley High School in offering an Internship position, and we are delighted Lauren is here with us. She is working with Trevor, our drafter, and getting hands-on experience in what that type of position actually involves. On the other hand, we are able to learn new ideas from her, and appreciate the young feedback to give us a fresh look at what we are doing.
Lauren has worked in CAD creating anything from a toy boat to a playground. She also has woodshop experience, and knows how to properly run all the machines and tools such as a table saw, router, and such.
She joined TraVek because she is very interested in residential remodeling and construction. She figures she'll learn a lot in her time here, as well.
In her spare time Lauren enjoys listening to music, playing her instruments, and spending time with friends.
She is from a very small family, just her parents and her. They are very close. The past two years have been a bit chaotic because of medical issues, but as a result, their family has drawn even closer together.
